About Barr Al Hikman Peninsula

A remote peninsula beach famous for huge flocks of migratory flamingos and shorebirds. Vast sandy tidal flats with extraordinary wildlife — one of the most important birdwatching sites in the Arabian Peninsula.

Barr Al Hikman is an internationally significant IBA (Important Bird Area) and Ramsar wetland. Hundreds of thousands of migratory birds stop here annually. The peninsula juts into the Gulf of Masirah opposite Masirah Island.

From Muscat take Route 32 south through Al Wusta toward Hayma, then east toward Masirah ferry. Barr Al Hikman is the peninsula north of the Masirah ferry terminal. 4WD essential.
