About Khor Rori Beach

A beach beside the ancient port of Sumhuram — a UNESCO World Heritage frankincense trade site from the 1st century AD. The khor (lagoon) backs the beach with mangroves, wading birds, and historic ruins visible from the sand.

Khor Rori was Oman's most important ancient port, used for exporting frankincense to Rome and India. The ruins of Sumhuram stand on the promontory above the beach, offering an extraordinary combination of history and nature.
