The only white sand dunes in Oman — pure mineral white spilling toward the Arabian Sea with no facilities, no visitors, and no reason to leave.
Al Wusta
The Sugar Dunes at Al Khaluf are white — not the warm tan or golden rust of the Wahiba Sands, but a pure mineral white formed from crushed shell and quartz that the coastal wind continuously reshapes against the deep blue of the Arabian Sea behind it.
The contrast between the white dunes and the sea beyond is the visual fact that makes Al Khaluf immediately different from every other dune landscape in Oman, and the complete absence of any facility or visitor infrastructure means the experience is determined entirely by what you bring and how far you walk. Wild camping here, in a white sand bowl with stars above and the sound of the sea a dune's width away, is one of the most extreme sensory environments on Oman's coast. Bring everything; expect nothing except what you find.
