A perfect circle of turquoise water carved into the limestone by natural collapse — the easiest natural wonder on the Muscat–Sur highway, right off the road.
Al Sharqiyah
The sinkhole appears at the edge of Hawiyat Najm Park as a perfect circle of turquoise water cut into the limestone plateau — it looks designed, but the formation is entirely natural, caused by bedrock dissolution and the subsequent collapse of what had been cave ceiling.
The water is brackish, mixed by underground channels connecting the sinkhole to the sea nearby, and fish are visible at several metres depth in water that remains clear regardless of season. What makes Bimmah worth a stop rather than a skip is exactly its accessibility: no hike, no 4WD, no guide — just a parking lot and a short path to the edge, making it the easiest genuine natural wonder on the Muscat-Sur highway. Combine it with Wadi Shab 30 minutes away and the day is complete.
