Boulder scrambling and jade-green pools in the canyon the tour operators haven't found yet — shorter than Snake Canyon, but just as memorable.
Western Hajar Mountains
Between two canyon walls close enough to touch on both sides, the water is knee-deep, cold, and coloured a jade green that deepens with every step into the shade. Little Snake Canyon is the beginner entry point to the Wadi Bani Awf canyon system — shorter and less technical than Snake Canyon proper, but with the same limestone corridors and zigzag pools that define this mountain landscape.
The canyon offers scrambling, boulder-hopping, and seasonal swimming through tight passages where you duck, wade, and squeeze through whatever the mountain has left open. Unlike Wadi Shab, which has a paved path and queues, Little Snake Canyon has no facilities and no crowds — the experience is entirely dictated by the water level and your own comfort with the unexpected. Water levels are highest after autumn and winter rain.

Enter Wadi Bani Awf from the Nakhal-Al Awabi side and continue past the junction toward Balad Sayt and Zammah. The canyon entrance is off the main wadi track in the Little Snake Canyon area. A 4WD and confident mountain-road driving are essential.
