The inhabited gorge right next to Wadi Shab that almost nobody visits — a living wadi of villages, date palms, and waterfalls deeper inside than any tour reaches.
Al Sharqiyah
The tarmac road into Wadi Tiwi is narrow enough that two passing cars require one to fold the mirror — but the drive through the gorge past inhabited villages, orange rock walls, and terraced date palm gardens is the most scenic wadi drive on the coastal highway, and almost nobody takes it because Wadi Shab is 500 metres away.
Unlike Shab, which has been configured for visitors, Tiwi is still configured for its residents — people live in the villages along the road, grow dates in the terraces, and conduct daily life inside a gorge that most tourists pass through to reach somewhere else. The upper wadi near Mibam holds waterfalls and caves requiring 4WD and a guide, rewarding the preparation most visitors don't bring. The combination of Shab and Tiwi on the same day is the correct version of this coastline.

Just north of Wadi Shab on the coastal highway. The main road into the wadi is narrow but paved. 4WD needed for the upper wadi beyond the first few villages.
