About Al Baleed Archaeological Park
A UNESCO World Heritage Site — the ruins of the ancient city of Sumhuram, once one of the most important frankincense trade ports in the ancient world. The Museum of the Frankincense Land within the park tells the 2,000-year story of Oman's most famous export.
The site includes the remarkable ruins of the ancient port city with its mosque, citadel, and warehouses. During Khareef season (June–September) the surrounding Dhofar landscape transforms into lush tropical green, making it even more atmospheric.
