About Al Alam Royal Palace
The ceremonial palace of the Sultan of Oman — a striking blue and gold structure at the heart of Old Muscat, flanked by the twin Portuguese forts of Al Jalali and Al Mirani. One of the most photographed buildings in Oman.
The palace interior is not open to the public, but the spectacular facade — with its gold-tipped towers and vivid blue arches — can be admired from the harbour forecourt. At night the palace is beautifully illuminated.
