About Muttrah Fort
A 16th century fort sitting high above the Muttrah harbour with commanding views over the bay, the Corniche, and the mountains beyond. Built by the Portuguese and later modified by Omani rulers, it remains one of the most photogenic forts in Muscat.
The fort is compact and can be explored in 45 minutes. The views from the battlements are exceptional — especially at sunset when the harbour lights up. One of the towers offers a direct view over Muttrah Souq below.
